Gallo Sonoma County Chardonnay 1998

Friday, December 14th, 2001

Yesterday I tried a “Gallo Sonoma County Chardonnay 1998″. It was quite different from the (Chablis style) chardonnays that I am used to. It was a very nice fruity wine with a bit nutty and a bit smoked smell and taste. :-)

Nils Oscar Imperial Stout

Monday, November 26th, 2001

While waiting for my pizza at “Ciao Ciao” this Saturday I drank a “Nils Oscar Imperial Stout“. Compared to Guinness it was a bit dry but at the same time quite sweet, with some burnt caramel tast.

Overall this was a nice beer, and I will absolutely drink it again. :-)

You can find this beer at bolaget.

Sea Dog Hazelnut Porter

Tuesday, October 16th, 2001

Yesterday I tried Sea Dog Hazelnut Porter.
I usually like porter, and was looking forward to drinking one that I had not tasted before.

When I opened the bottle, there was a sweet caramel smell.

When I tasted it, it tasted sweet and nutty…
“Hey! This is not what a porter is supposed to taste like.”

Then I noticed that on the bottle it said, with natural flavoring.

The brew didn’t taste bad, but I couldn’t finish it. I wanted a beer, and not this, whatever it was… I will not drink it again. :-(

You can find this “beer” at bolaget.

On Saturday I tasted Tsar Assén Mavrud Assenovgrad 1997

The wine is from Assenovgrad/Bulgaria (Bulgaria, the home of the diluted wines…)
The grape is Mavrud.

It tasted nice and fruity, but was a bit thin. :-|

For only SEK 53 at bolaget, I think this is ok.

Saturday, September 29th, 2001

Yesterday I tasted Santagostino Epoca Rosso 1998.

The wine is from Italy/Sicily.
Grapes: Nero D’Avola and Merlot.

I have tested it before, and I have always liked it. It is rich, and fruity and smelles very nice.

For only SEK 69 at bolaget it is almost a bargain. :-)
