I made this image using GIMP and the gas giant plugin. I changed the colors of the my image from Carinthia and then added the gas giant as another layer. Then I changed the opacity of the added layer to make it look good.
Today is the National Day of Sweden. I thought that I should look at some statistics from SCB to see what surnames are more common in different parts of Sweden.
The result is quite interesting. The most common names seem to be dividing Sweden close to what used to be the old lands of Sweden. Eriksson is the most common name in Svealand. In Gothia, Johansson is the most common name in Westrogothia and Karlsson is the most common name in Ostrogothia. Near Stockholm (near the Karlsson-Eriksson border), Andersson is most common. In Scania and Blekinge that used to be Danish, Nilsson and Svensson are the most common names. In the island of Gotland the name Petterson is the most common.
It’s 30 years since Dio released his album Holy Diver. I am not really a fan of Heavy Metal, but this album is an exception. I remember that me and my friends play this album a lot. I didn’t own it back then, but I have now bought it (but not on vinyl).
Let’s Dance, it’s 30 years since David Bowie’s album called Let’s Dance was released. I like the even older stuff from David Bowie better, but this is Bowie’s best-selling album. The title-track was number 1 in lots of countries:
Another great track was China Girl. This is a song that I have played myself on both electronic keyboard and guitar.
